Laverne White Rogers
1931-2024
Laverne White Rogers, 92, of Martinsburg, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Hospice of the Panhandle.
She was born July 13, 1931 in Logan County, Oklahoma to the late James Franklin White and Nellie Verona Moffitt White.
She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas, and a Master of Education Degree from Methodist University, Ft. Worth, Texas.
She retired as a School Teacher after 35 years of service. She was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Martinsburg.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Elmo Rogers; one son, Stephen Rogers and wife, Bonnie of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter, Stephanie Rickards and husband, Wes of Charles Town; two grandchildren, Brent Collins and wife, Anna of Martinsburg, and Kyle Collins and wife, Thanya of Midland, Texas; two great-grandsons, Ayden Brody Collins and Maverick Bradshaw Collins of Martinsburg; and one sister, Carolyn Jones of Lilly, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by brothers, James Robert White and Wayne White; and one sister, Mildred White.
A celebration of her entry into her heavenly home was held on Friday, April 5, at 11 a.m., at Westview Baptist Church, 301 South Louisiana Avenue, Martinsburg, WV 25401 with Pastor Bryan Dugger. Family received friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m., at the church. A meal followed the service in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Debt Retirement Fund at Westview Baptist Church.
