This past week the Berkeley Springs Lady Indians closed out their regular season with two wins to move their record to 8-12. On Monday, February 12 the Lady Indians hosted Mountain View Christian Academy in the last home game of the season.
Berkeley Springs led 9-4 after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Tribe went on a 13-6 run to take a 22-10 halftime lead. The third quarter the Lady Indians blew the game open with a 19-8 run to increase their lead to 41-18. The final quarter saw Berkeley Springs close out the game with a 52-27 win.
Berkeley Springs was led by freshman Katie Risinger who had a career high 17 points. Maddie Fauver (14 points), Emma Widmeyer (7 points), Maddie Close (5 points), Grace Risinger (3 points), Melissa Seabright (2 points), Marley Heath (2 points) and Clara Payne (2 points) rounded out the scoring.
On Wednesday, February 14 the Lady Indians celebrated Valentine’ s Day with a long road trip to Mount Storm to play the Union Tigers.
Union jumped out to a 6-2 first quarter lead. Union increased their lead to 21-14 at the half and had the Tribe on the ropes. Berkeley Springs came out in the third quarter and used a 12-2 run to take the lead at 26-23. In the fourth quarter the Lady Indians were able to outscore the Tigers 10-6 to take the 36-29 win.
Maddie Close had a career night with 23 points. Maddie Fauver (6 points), Emma Widmeyer (3 points), Melissa Seabright (2 points), and Katie Risinger (2 points) rounded out the scoring for Berkeley Springs.
Next up for the Lady Indians (8-12) is the opening round of the sectional play- offs. Berkeley Springs will travel to Hampshire on Tuesday, February 20. The winner of that contest will travel to top seed Keyser on Friday, February 23.
