Another burst of winter

Two winter storms coated Morgan County in snow again last week, then plunged the area into frigid temperature ranges that relented on Monday.

Schools closed to in-person learning on Tuesday and Wednesday as the mix of snow and freezing temperatures hampered road clearing and created dangerous conditions to be outdoors in the mornings. Students returned to classrooms on Thursday, January 18 after a two-hour delay. Several more inches of snow overnight and into Friday closed down schools and some offices again, and delayed the opening of businesses and the courthouse.

Over the weekend, high winds pushed the light snow into drifts, covering some roads that had been plowed. Students returned to class on Monday after a two-hour delay.
