Lady Indians take win over Hancock

The Berkeley Springs Lady Indians basketball team was back on the court this week with a pair of games. Berkeley Springs was able to earn the split with a win over Potomac River rival Hancock. The loss came at sectional power Keyser.

On Wednesday, January 10 the Lady Indians traveled to Keyser for a clash with the Golden Tornado. After the first two quarters of play Keyser held a 24-13 lead. The final two quarters saw Keyser start heating up on offense as they used a 33-14 second half run to take down Berkeley Springs 57-27.

Berkeley Springs was led by Maddie Fauver (19 points), Katie Risinger (3 points), Emma Widmeyer (3 points) and Grace Risinger (1 point).

On Friday, January 12 the Lady Indians welcomed the Hancock Panthers to town in the annual Potomac River battle.

Berkeley Springs jumped out to an 18-3 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter saw the home team use an 11-7 run to take a 29-10 half- time lead. The final two quarters the Lady Indians used a 25-9 run to collect the 54-19 win.

Berkeley Springs was led by Maddie Close (13 points), Maddie Fauver (13 points), Katie Risinger (10 points), Emma Widmeyer (6 points), Melissa Seabright (5 points), Grace Risinger (2 points), Marley Heath (3 points) and Kira Barham (2 points).

Next up for Berkeley Springs (4-9) is a home contest with the Boonsboro Warriors (Md.) on Wednesday, January 17 at 7 p.m.
