The parking meter decoration “The Blessings Box” on East Fairfax Street got so much positive feedback, the Bath Town Council intends to make it a permanent fixture.
At the December 19, council meeting, Bath Municipal Court Clerk Breauna Farris said because the community responded to it and it was continually restocked by community members, a blessings box will have a permanent home in town.
The council then voted unanimously to find a permanent place for the box that helps people in need.
“It shows generosity in this community,” Mayor Scott Merki said.
The council is looking at two possible areas for the blessings box. One is near the City Bank on North Washington Street and the other consideration is the parking lot between CNB Bank and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
The council is asking for feedback from the community regarding its placement.
