The Paw Paw Pirates varsity boys’ basketball team is off to a 2-0 start on the season with wins over Mountain View Christian Academy and Union.
Last Thursday, December 7 the Pirates hosted the Mountain View Christian Academy Conquerors and rolled to a 55-33 win. Paw Paw jumped out to a 12-4 first quarter lead.
The second quarter saw MVCA battle back, but the Pirates used a 15-11 run to take a 27-15 halftime lead. In the third quarter MVCA outscored Paw Paw 12-10 but still trailed 37-27. In the final quarter Paw Paw put the game away with an 18-6 run to take the 55-33 win.
Paw Paw was led by Donovan Tanouye who scored 28 points, had 10 steals and 7 assists. Dre Heath (13 points), Conner Williams (4 points),
Greyson Corbett (4 points), Taylor Carder (4 points), Ayden Crabtree (4 points) also helped lead the way.
On Friday, December 8 the Pirates hosted the Union Tigers and picked up a 55-47 win. Paw Paw was led once again by Donovan Tanouye who had 28 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals. Greyson Corbett (10 points), Taylor Carder (8 points), Ayden Crabtee (5 points) and Dre Heath (4 points) also contributed to the win.
Paw Paw (2-0) will host Salisbury Elk Lick on Wednesday, December 13 at 7 p.m.
