A Paw Paw man has been jailed on child pornography charges following a cybertip investigation that lead to a search of the home the suspect was staying in.
West Virginia State Police have charged Edward Chamberlain, 43, with distribution of material depicting minors engaged in explicit conduct. He is being held in the Eastern Regional Jail in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Magistrate Court, investigators with the West Virginia State Police received a cybertip that an IP address assigned to Chamberlain had uploaded two files via Snapchat that depicted child pornography.
During a search warrant, Chamberlain had advised police he had distributed 6,000 links of child pornography on various websites.
On November 11, Cpl. Z.S. Conner, Trooper Padilla and Trooper Meyers went to a Winchester Street residence in Paw Paw where Chamberlain was staying to search devices.
Police said the suspect was using a Snapchat account on his mother’s laptop to receive the child pornography files.
