All cross country season long Paw Paw junior Donnie Tanouye has been making an impact in every meet that he has participated in. Last Tuesday, October 10, at the 2023 Potomac Valley Conference Championships at Keyser High School the Pirate runner once again made a statement.
Tanouye dominated a strong field of Frankfort, Hampshire and Keyser runners to take the championship in the boy’s race. Tanyoue finished with a time of 16:55 to outdistance Ryan Hughes (Frankfort) by five seconds. With his win in the PVC Championship, Tanouye becomes the first Pirate runner to ever claim the title and etch his name in the school history books.
Junior Andrew Harold finished in 34th place with a time of 21:14. Sophomore Taylor Carder finished in 44th place with a time of 22:52. Senior Greyson Corbett finished in 48th place with a time of 24:34.
Tanouye will not set his sights on the 2023 Class A Region II Championships this Thursday, October 19 at Doddridge County High School. The boy’s race is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
