The Berkeley Springs Lady Indians volleyball team played four games this past week. Despite not getting a win the Lady Indians showed some improvement on the court.
On Tuesday, September 5 the Lady Indians hosted St. James (Md.) at the Berkeley Springs High School gym. St. James swept the varsity contest 3-0 (25-12, 25-7 and 25-9).The Berkeley Springs JV team picked up the 2-0 win by the scores of 25-14 and 25-15.
On Thursday, September 7 the Lady Indians hosted PVC members Hampshire and Keyser in a tri meet. Hampshire took the 2-0 win over Berkeley Springs 25-8 and 25-9. Keyser swept the Lady Indians 2-0 by the scores of 25-14 and 25-20.
This past Saturday, September 9 the Lady Indians hosted the Southern Fulton Lady Indians in a rare Saturday contest. Southern Fulton took the 3-0 win by the scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-23. Berkeley Springs was led by Ryleigh Poist (17 service points), Stephanie Briscoe (14 service points), Kate Mincher (11 service points), Grace Risinger (9 service points), Ocean Clatterbuck (8 service points) and Danica O’Dell (7 service points).
The JV team won a three match thriller over Southern Fulton by the scores of 25-19, 22-25 and 25-21. The JV Lady Indians were led by Alyssa Patton (18 service points), Aviona Ambrose (17 service points), Cambria Andrews (14 service points), Maddie Close (9 service points), Makayla Bowers (9 service point) and Bailee Diehl (7 service points).
Berkeley Springs will be back in action this week. On Tuesday, September 12 a home contest with St. Maria Goretti. On Thursday, September 14 a road trip to Frankfort. Junior varsity games start at 6 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7:30 p.m.
