Cecelia May Poorbaugh
1941-2023
Cecelia “CC” May (Shoemaker) Poorbaugh, 81, of Clear Spring, Md., passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at her home.
Born November 21, 1941, in Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles Milton Shoemaker and May Naomi (Otzelberger) Shoemaker.
CC was a 1959 graduate of Clear Spring High School and a former member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Big Pool, Md.
She was a cook at the Southern Belle Truck Stop in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and retired from the Washington County Public School System as a school bus driver for over 30 years.
CC was a member of the Pocahantas Red Feather Council 59 in Williamsport, Md. and a former member of the VFW in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
CC is survived by six daughters, Bonita Brown (Bill), Kim Hill (Chuck), Juanita Grimm (Keith), Jenny Shives (Timmy), Dawn Hall (Arno), and Cheryl Knable; two sons, Harold Hall, Jr. (Janet) and Darryl Hall; a sister in law, Joyce Shumaker; three step children, Brenda Garland Verno, Peggy Twigg and Frances Poorbaugh; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Harold Branson Hall, Sr. and Ray William Poorbaugh; a brother, Richard “Dick” Shumaker; four step children, Beverly Younker, Marlene O’berry, Joyce Andreason, and Kenneth Poorbaugh; a son in law, Chuck Knable and a grandson, Billy Nobles.
The family will receive friends at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, Md. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
