Betty Jean Goodman
1933-2023
Betty Jean Goodman, age 90, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Harrison House Senior Living in Snow Hill, Md.
Born January 30, 1933 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of James and Virgie Bishop Waugh.
She attended St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Berkeley Springs and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hagerstown, Md. Betty Jean was a 1950 class graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. She worked as an administration assistant for Potomac Edison and retired from Antietam Cable. For many years she was the coordinator and collected the money for her class reunions. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed watching baseball, especially her favorite team the Baltimore Orioles. She was a lifetime member and past president of the Alderton-Dawson Ladies Auxiliary Unit #60.
Betty Jean is survived by her children, Craig Alan Goodman of Delmar, Md. and Linda Kay Cornelius of Westminster, Md., one grandson, Christopher Thomas Maas of Apex, N.C., two great-grandchildren Lily Ana Maas and Brody Christopher Maas, both of Apex.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenwood Allen Goodman.
Funeral services were conducted at noon on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, with Lay Leader Bill Grow officiating. The family received friends from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial was in Greenway Cemetery.
