The Morgan County School Board approved the following personnel changes at their May meetings:
Berkeley Springs High School Assistant Principal Jason Smith (225 days) transferred to a position as Berkeley Springs High School Assistant Principal (240 days) starting July 3.
Eve Blasinsky was employed as a Berkeley Springs High School English language arts teacher beginning with the 2023-2024 school year.
Sarah Hill was hired as a Widmyer Elementary first grade teacher beginning with the 2023-2024 school year.
Molly Arbogast was hired as a county speech pathologist starting with the 2023-2024 school year.
Carl Mazzan was employed as a substitute teacher starting with the 2023-2024 school year.
Gillian Keeling resigned as Berkeley Springs High School multi-categorical special education teacher for students with autism effective at the end of the school year.
McKenna Maravelis resigned as county mobile endpoint specialist effective at the end of June 23.
Additional positions
Three academic coaches positions (210 days) were added per the supplemental salary scale-one coach each for Widmyer Elementary, Warm Springs Intermediate School and Paw Paw Elementary.
Service personnel
Janice Kump, Berkeley Springs High School secretary III, is retiring effective at the end of June 30. Kump was employed as a substitute aide, substitute cook and substitute secretary starting with the 2023-2024 school year.
Bus driver David Kerns was removed from transfer and reassigned as bus driver for Bus 16-10 with route changes beginning with the 2023-2024 school year.
Berkeley Springs High School cook II Melissa Waugh’s reduction in force (RIF) was rescinded. Waugh was reassigned as Berkeley Springs High School cook II starting with the 2023-2024 school year.
Widmyer Elementary half-time cook II Kelsey Lantz’s reduction in force (RIF) was rescinded. Lantz was reassigned as Widmyer Elementary cook II starting with the 2023-2024 school year.
Berkeley Springs High School custodian Harry Reed was granted an unpaid leave of absence from April 19 to May 9.
Cameron Seek resigned as a substitute aide effective at the end of May 5.
Additional positions
The school board approved adding seven first grade aide/early childhood classroom assistant teachers (ECCATs) positions. One aide/ECCAT position is for Pleasant View Elementary, one aide/ECCAT position is for Paw Paw Elementary and five aide/ECCAT positions are for Widmyer Elementary.
Extracurricular/extra duty
Amber Guthrie was hired as a Paw Paw Schools after-school tutor from March 27 for the rest of the 2022-2023 school year as needed.
Carol Brown and Rhiannon Ritenour were employed for Paw Paw Schools pre/post supervision for the rest of the school year as needed.
Summer personnel
Michael Wilder and Thomas Lacy were hired as Berkeley Springs High School summer school teachers from June 7-July 21 as needed.
Summer McClintock was employed as Pleasant View Elementary Camp MoCo program coordinator from July 5-July 21 as needed.
Shanahan Elmore was hired as Warm Springs Intermediate School Camp MoCo program coordinator from July 5-July 21 as needed.
Diana Hiles and Gary Wachter were hired as Warm Springs Middle School Camp Alpha teachers from July 5-July 21 as needed.
Gary Wachter was employed as a Warm Springs Middle School MC After 3 teacher from July 7-July 21 as needed.
Lorra Root, Cheryl Roberts, Jennifer Fox, Margaret Hill, Carrie Kesecker, Christina Rose, Jean Kline and Tia Myers were hired as Warm Springs Intermediate School Camp MoCo teachers from July 5-July 21.
Rebecca Miller, Casey Munson and Morgan Golden were employed as Pleasant View Elementary Camp MoCo teachers from July 5-July 21.
Renee Young was hired as a MC After 3 summer camp teacher from July 21-August 4 as needed.
Jann Hewett was employed as a county Extended School Year (ESY) teacher/pre-school special needs (PSSN) from June 26-July 21 as needed.
Maria Ruleman was employed as Pleasant View Elementary Camp MoCo secretary from July 10-July 21.
Danelle Smith was hired as Warm Springs Intermediate School Camp MoCo secretary from July 10-July 21.
Diane Clark was employed as Warm Springs Middle School Camp Alpha secretary from July 10-July 23.
Vanessa Brown was hired as a county cook II from July 10-July 21 as needed.
Additional position
The school board approved an additional summer position of a Paw Paw Elementary summer school teacher from June 7-July 18 for up to 20 hours a week as needed.
Coaches, athletics
Dave Mundey, Berkeley Springs High School athletic director, changed the effective date of his resignation from July 15 to June 30.
Pedro Miguel resigned as Berkeley Springs High School head cross country coach effective at the end of April 25.
Lacee Kidwell resigned as Berkeley Springs High School assistant cross country coach effective at the end of May 2.
Kevin Bernhard resigned as Berkeley Springs High School assistant football coach effective at the end of May 5.
Temporary/part-time
Andrea Whetzel resigned as Paw Paw Schools Expanded School Mental Health social worker effective at the end of May 12.
