Kasekamp & Tanouye earn track All-State Honors

The Paw Paw Pirates track and field team ventured to the state capital this past week- end for the Class A State Track and Field Championships.

All season long the small but competitive Pirates program turned out numerous personal records and also set some impressive overall stats through the season.

The state tournament proved no different as Paw Paw had three all-state honors earned by their dedicated athletes. Sophomore Donnie Tanouye finished in fifth place in the long jump with a 19’ 10” jump to pick up his first state medal. Tanouye also competed in the 800 meters (11th place, 2:09) and the 1600 meters (12th place, 5:00).

collection. In the shot put Kasekamp finished in sixth place with a throw of 45’ 6”. Kasekamp followed that up with a seventh-place finish in the discus with a throw of 132’8”.

As a team the Pirates boys finished in 20th place with nine points.

On the girls’ side, freshman Shayla Tanouye finished in 11th place in the 400 meters with a time of 1:05.
