Betty Caroline Keet

1942-2023

Betty Caroline (Yost) Keet, 81, died peacefully on April 25, 2023.

She was born in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. on January 11, 1942, to the late Leslie and Adelaide (Dailey) Yost.

She graduated from Berkeley Springs High School.

Her career as a Special Police Officer of the City of Springfield/Crossing Guard spanned 46 years. During her spare time, she was a cake decorator, enjoyed crocheting, spending time with friends/neighbors, and sightseeing. Her passion was her children, from raising her two boys, to helping care for her grandchildren, to the school children she was charged with protecting, they were the loves of her life. Betty also had a cantankerous side which she showed by filling in potholes or decorating eyesores like dead trees with flowers, ribbons, and bows to get things fixed. She loved and embraced life and those whom she shared it with.

She will be missed by her son Thomas Keet and his wife Mary, her grandchildren Kaitlin Keet Perkins and her husband Zach Perkins, TJ Keet, Matthew Espieg and his wife Crystal, her great-grandchildren Emmersyn and Wyatt Espieg, Baby Perkins on the way, her daughter in-law Beth (Scott) Keet, her sisters Wanda Fleece and Patsy Pentoney, her brothers Dayton Yost and Donnie Yost and his wife Bobbie and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband William “Bill” Keet, Jr., her son Kevin Keet, her brother Roger Yost and his wife Carol, her sisters Joan Yost and Jacqueline McBride, her sister-in-law Carolyn Yost, her brother-in-laws Robert Fleece and Richard Pentoney, her sister-in-law Mildred Keet and Dorn Lombard, and her parents-in-law William and Bernice Keet.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow, MA. Her burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://act.alz.org/donate, or by providing a local child with a back to school backpack or supplies.
