Public water system taps new chief operator

by Trish Rudder

A chief water operator in Piedmont has been hired as the new Assistant Superintendent for the Berkeley Springs Water Works, the public water system that serves more than 2,000 customers around Berkeley Springs.

Richard Mayhew will start in the post on May 16.

At the April 4 Bath Town Council meeting, Councilman Chris Chapman said that Mayhew will have five months to work with the current chief, Ron Jainniney, who will retire in September.

Chapman said Mayhew was interviewed and was offered the job and has passed all the qualifications.

This is a “huge weight off,” Chapman said.
