Berkeley Springs pharmacist, business owner, former Morgan County Commissioner and former West Virginia State Delegate Ken Reed has said he will run for the office of West Virginia Secretary of State in 2024.
Reed, a Republican, made the announcement last week.
The state’s current Secretary of State Mac Warner is running for Governor.
West Virginia’s Secretary of State is the state’s chief elections officer and supervises business and corporate registrations for West Virginia businesses.
Reed started his career as a pharmacist in 1992. Reed began his career working as a chain pharmacist then went on to build his own small chain of pharmacies in and around the Eastern Panhandle. Reed and his wife currently own and operate the Canary Grill in Berkeley Springs and Reeds’ Pharmacy locations in Martinsburg; Hedgesville; Berkeley Springs; Hancock, Maryland; and Berryville, Virginia.
Reed was elected to the Morgan County Commission in November of 2016, and then resigned his seat when he was elected Delegate for the 59th district.
Reed lost a re-election campaign for the House of Delegates to George Miller in 2022.
Reed previously ran for the U.S. Congress.
In his candidacy announcement, Reed said, “I look forward to using my conservative leadership experience as a county commissioner, WV state delegate, and business builder to keep West Virginia moving in the right direction.”
