Susie M. Omps
1931-2023
Susie Mendola Omps, 91, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. died on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at her home.
Susie was born on May 14, 1931 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., the daughter of the late Jacob and Clara Stotler Puffinberger.
She was a member of Salem Methodist Church in Cross Junction, Va., and worked as a Lodge Housekeeper for the West Virginia State Park in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and for Shawnee Springs Canning Factory in Cross Junction.
Susie enjoyed gardening, camping, floating the river, canning, trapping and most of all being with her family.
Susie married Dayton A. “Pete” Omps, Jr. on August 21, 1948 in Winchester, Va. Pete died on November 14, 2014.
Surviving is a son: Bobby Omps of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; four daughters: Joann Neundorff (Brian) of Paw Paw, W.Va.; Peggy Waugh (Curtis); Ginger McCumbee (Jimmy) and Ruth Ann Omps (Kevin) all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; a granddaughter/daughter: Talitha Sue “Ty” Omps; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by a daughter: Alice Weigle; four brothers: Tom, Pete, John and Jake, Jr. Puffinberger; five sisters: Nellie, Minnie & Betsy Stotler, Ella Puffinberger and Goldie Crouse; a grandchild: Bobby Omps, Jr; two great-grandchildren: Aiden & Charlie; and a daughter-in-law: Crystal Omps.
A funeral service will be at Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, W.Va. on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Kidwell. Interment will follow in the Salem Cemetery in Cross Junction, Va.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 6-8 p.m.
Arrangements are by the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, W.Va.
