Forney named commission president for 2023

Morgan County commissioners met for their 2023 organizational session on Wednesday, January 4. During the meeting, county officials chose Sean Forney to once again serve as Commission President for 2023.

Prior to the meeting, Bill Clark was sworn in for his first full term as an elected commissioner.

Commissioners set their meeting schedule for 2023, staying with a routine of  meetings on the first and third Wednesday of most months. There are additional meetings set during Board of Equalization and budget time. A full schedule is posted on the Morgan County Commission website. Agendas for each meeting are posted prior to each session as required by law.

Officials also set the courthouse holiday schedule for this year, setting days when the courthouse will be closed in observance of state and federal holidays.

Commissioners chose their committee assignments for 2023.

Commissioner Joel Tuttle will serve on these boards:

–Criminal Community Corrections Board

–Unsafe Structures Board

–Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition

–WVU Extension Advisory Committee

Commissioner Forney will serve on these boards:

–Morgan County Economic Development Authority

–Morgan County Emergency Medical Services Board

–911 Advisory Board

–Local Emergency Planning Committee

–Morgan County Fire Board.
