William Alva Marshall
William Alva Marshall, age 83, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at The Shenandoah Center in Charles Town, W.Va.
Born June 24, 1938 in Bloomingdale, N.Y., he was the son of the late Alvin “Slim” and Lil Hamilton Marshall.
He was a Christian.
He attended public schools in Virginia and was a self-employed finisher in the construction business.
He had been a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1041 in Leesburg, Va.
He served with the U.S. Army from August 22, 1955 until his honorable discharge at the rank of Specialist 4th Class on August 7, 1958.
Mr. Marshall liked farming and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Mae Harris Marshall, at home, three children, Ronald Humphries and his wife Christina of Weyers Cave, Va., Carolyn Humphries of Martinsburg, W.Va. and David Humphries and his wife Joyce of Waynesboro, Pa., two sisters, Judy Moriarty of Front Royal, Va., Connie Suddueth of Bracy, Va. and Sally Marshall of Sterling, Va., one brother, James Marshall of Leesburg, Va., 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four children, Pamela Humphries, Billy Humphries, Phillip Humphries and Teresa Humphries, one sister, Linda Peacoe and two brothers, Marvin Marshall and Robert Marshall.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery, 6958 Winchester Grade Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Lloyd McCanna officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
