Thelma Ann Swaim

1942-2021

Thelma Ann Swaim, age 79, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born May 8, 1942, in Great Cacapon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert Leroy and Thelma Juanita (Clingerman) Bushman.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Swaim Loughry, her son-in-law, Allen, and grandson, Justus. She is also survived by her sisters, Louise Keiter of Berkeley Springs and Lois Jean Swaim of Hagerstown, Md., as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Dennis Swaim; her brother, James Kenneth Bushman; and her sister, Bonnie Clingerman.

She was a caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She was a Christian and a 1960 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. She retired from the Morgan Messenger where she had worked for many years as a proofreader and typist.

She adored her grandson, looked forward to springtime, fall festivals, family picnics, parades, and was always ready for a challenging word game, especially Scrabble.

She loved all animals. Many of the cats and dogs whom she cherished throughout the years found her. Since she never turned away any animal in need, they always just became part of the family.

In remembrance of Ann’s life, any charitable donations may be given in her name to the Morgan County Humane Society, or Give Purrs A Chance non-profit cat adoption center, both of Berkeley Springs.
