Satip Ghosh

1969-2022

Satip “Tip” Ghosh born May 30, 1969, unexpectedly passed away on May 30, 2022, at his home in Paw Paw, West Virginia.

Tip was born in London, England and grew up in New York City.

The guiding principle of his short, but beautiful life was his conviction that the most valuable of all capital is that which is invested in human beings. He was devoted to improving the lives of those around him in immeasurable ways – mentoring many through financial hardship and life struggles, funding tuition, housing, medical expenses, and start-up businesses. But most importantly, he offered fellowship and counseling through cooking and sharing meals.

A lover of good food, good company, hiking, fishing, and sailing, Tip was a globetrotter from India to the British Isles to Australia and New Zealand.

Tip graduated with honors from Stuyvesant High School, NYC, earned his Undergraduate Degree from the University of Michigan and Graduate Degrees from the University of West Virginia (MS Management) and the University of Maryland (PhD ABD). In his early career as a member of the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University, School of Policy Management and University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Center for Business & Economic Research, he was beloved by his students and colleagues alike. He authored and published numerous research papers and articles on topics such as economic and human capital modeling of individuals with traumatic brain injury, delivery management of healthcare for Appalachia and other under-served regions, health information technology, and physician and nursing practice management platforms. Experienced as a Risk Management Consultant for Watson Wyatt Worldwide, in his later career he worked as a Regulatory Risk Management consultant to several private banks and then at Credit Suisse A.G. until his death.

Tip is survived by Susmita Ghosh, his mother, Sue Ghosh Stricklett and John Stricklett, his sister and brother-in-law, Supriya Ghosh and Piyasi Ghosh, his brother and sister-in-law, Johnny Stricklett, William Stricklett, Neil Ghosh, and Tanya Ghosh, his nephews and niece, and the countless friends and lives Tip has touched throughout his life.

Services for Tip will be private.
