Richard Rogers Nichols, age 65, of Great Cacapon, W.Va., died on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at his home.

Born October 11, 1955 in Camden, N.J., he was the son of the late Dr. Samuel Irving and Jeanne Marie Hill Nichols.

He was a Christian. He was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.

Richard had worked as a truck driver with D.M. Bowman and USA Cartage. He also worked as a maintenance engineer with Coolfont Resort.

He served with the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483 in Berkeley Springs. Richard was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and football.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Jo Davis, at home, two sons, Thomas Leon Murphy of Great Cacapon, W.Va. and James Tyler Davis of Berkeley Springs, his sister, Vicki Nichols of Nags Head, N.C., one brother, Joe Nichols of Martinsburg, W.Va., one granddaughter, Kira Eve Davis of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Irving Nichols, Jr. and John R. Nichols.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Steve Dawson officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
