Morgan County Sheriff K.C. Bohrer has said law enforcement officers have secured a site containing potential human remains off Highland Ridge Road in eastern Morgan County on Wednesday evening. A mushroom hunter discovered the remains on private land and reported them to law enforcement on Wednesday. West Virginia State Police troopers took the initial call, and the Sheriff’s Department has now taken the lead on doing an initial search of the area and keeping it secure. Sheriff Bohrer said investigation will continue on Thursday morning at daylight. He said the state’s medical examiner will examine the remains to make a positive identification of the individual, if that’s possible.
