Pauline Virginia Bechtol

1925-2021

Pauline Virginia Bechtol, age 96, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born January 9, 1925 in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Gardner Isaac, Sr. and Clara Ellen Householder Cain.

She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at Spohrs Crossroads and also attended Gospel Light Tabernacle for many years until her health prevented her from attending. Pauline gave her heart and life to Jesus Christ on July 4, 1973 and has lived for him. She attended public schools in Morgan County, W.Va. and had been a homemaker for most of her life. She loved to play dominoes and taught many to play. She was known in her community as the Domino Queen. She enjoyed doing search word puzzles.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She honored the Lord by giving to those in need. Pauline will be sadly missed, but we know where she is now, because she had a personal relationship with her Savior Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Bechtol is survived by her children, Barbara Diane Stotler and her husband Roger, Janet Marie Hull, Gail Arlene Bechtol and James Lewis Bechtol, Jr. and his wife Vickie, all of Berkeley Springs, one brother, Virgil F. Cain of Berkeley Springs, four grandchildren, Kim Smith, Roger Stotler, Jr., Lori Michael and Ryan Hull, all of Berkeley Springs, seven great grandchildren, Lauren Schetrompf, Daniel, Matthew and Kara Smith, Caleb and Courtney Stotler and Benjamin Michael, all of Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Bechtol, Sr. on February 13, 1982, son-in-law, Barry Ray Hull, and five brothers, Herbert, Melvin, Gardner, Jr., Charles, and an infant George Cain.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 5377 Martinsburg Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Tony Pirrone officiating. Interment will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.

The family received friends from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
