1938-2022

Jennings Randolph “JR” Poland, age 84, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility in Kearneysville, W.Va.

Born January 17, 1938 in Piedmont, W.Va., he was the son of the late Allen T. and Helen E. Oates Poland.

He was a member of Redland United Methodist Church in Cross Junction, Va.

JR was a graduate of Keyser High School in Keyser, W.Va.

He first worked with Westvaco Paper Company and then as a Conservation Officer for Lincoln and Morgan Counties, retiring as a Regional Hearing Examiner.

He served with the U.S. Army. JR was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and member of Davis Masonic Lodge #51 in Keyser, W.Va.

In his younger days, he was a golfer and a certified scuba diver.

He enjoyed going to Golden Coral for breakfast and watched all of the veterinarian TV shows.

He is survived by two sons, Craig Allan Poland and his wife Barbara of Rockville, Md. and Eric Lynn Poland of Berkeley Springs, two grandchildren, Daniel A. Poland and Emily E. Poland, both of Allentown, Pa., two sisters, Connie Bess and Jan Poland, two brothers, Allen T. Poland, Jr., and Jay Poland, all of Keyser and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. where friends may call from noon-1 p.m. Pastor Robert Schoeman will officiate.

Private interment will be in Green Mount Cemetery, Cumberland, Md.
