January snow, Round 2

Somewhere between six and nine inches of snow fell across the region Sunday, January 16 and into Monday morning, finishing off with a layer of freezing rain.

Offices and businesses that were not already closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day stayed shut Monday as many roads around the county remained covered. Highway crews moved from maintaining the primary routes along U.S. 522 and Route 9 to clearing secondary and smaller roads on Monday and Tuesday.

Morgan County Schools operated on remote learning on Tuesday – the second such non-traditional school day in 2022. Students with access to computers were asked to check in with teachers to follow assignments.

Downtown businesses were digging into the snowfall to clear sidewalks on Monday afternoon.
