The Berkeley Springs High School Baseball Team traveled to Spring Mills for a contest with the Cardinals on Tuesday, April 5.
Berkeley Springs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Spring Mills rallied back with three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-2 lead. The Cardinals stretched their lead to 6-2 with three more runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Indians then turned up the offense in the top of the third inning as they scored four runs to tie the game at 6- 6. Spring Mills broke the tie with a run in the bottom of the inning to go back in front 7-6. In the top of the top of the fourth inning the Indians scored three more runs to re- take the lead for good at 9-7. Spring Mills cut the score to
9-8 with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Tribe scored the final run in the top of the sixth inning to make the final score 10-8.
Leading the way for the Indians were Evan Thompson (three singles, four runs and an RBI), Reagan Johnson (two singles and two runs), Cole Oursler (single, double, run and three RBIs), Nathan Guzick (single, double, run, and two RBIs), Caleb Stotler (triple, run and two RBIs), Chance Swink (two RBIs) and Tyler Barney (single and run).
Riley Albanese got the start going two innings before being relieved by Tyler Barney. Barney got the win going four innings, scattering six hits, one earned run and striking out four.
Berkeley Springs (3-4) traveled to Musselman on Tuesday, April 12. Then on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 the Indians will be in Bridgeport for a tournament.
