Gilbert Dupree Spielman
1936-2022
Gilbert Dupree “Gibby” Spielman, 85, of Winchester, Va. died on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at his home.
Gibby was born on November 9, 1936 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., a son of the late Arloff and Elma M. Spielman Spielman.
He worked as a press operator for O’Sullivan Films in Winchester, Va. for 40+ years and a member of the Methodist faith.
Gibby loved fishing, traveling, tinkering in the garage, gardening, puzzles, westerns and especially spending time with family.
Gibby married Hilda Marie Puffinberger Spielman on March 21, 1956 in Cumberland, Md. Hilda died on September 21, 2013.
Surviving is a daughter: Donna K. Hyson of Clear Brook, Va.; two grandchildren: Shawn D. Hyson (Janelle) & Dana S. Cook (Mike) and eight great-grandchildren: Kaleigh, Colby, Derrick, Brady, Broden, Jenna, Summer & Kara.
He is preceded in death by two brothers: Bradford Spielman & Malden “Mug” Spielman and two sisters: Winona Hoover & Mary Lee Miller.
A funeral service was at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, W.Va. on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. Officiating was Rev. Gary Palmer. Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery in Whitacre, Va.
Family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 3-5 p.m.
