Faun Maxine Sipes

Faun Maxine Sipes, age 92, of Greencastle, Pa., died on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Lynn Care Center in Front Royal, Va.

Born February, 17, 1929 in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Raymond Theodore and Nellie Ada Smith Whisner.

She was a member of The Evangel Baptist Church in Hagerstown, Md. Faun was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and received her Associate’s Degree from God’s Bible College in Ohio.

She was a homemaker and cared for many foster children. Faun enjoyed making and painting ceramics. Faun is survived by her son, James Vernon Sipes of Leesburg, Va., her sister Betty Lee Spitzer of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., a special niece, Cheryl Anne Hurley of Bluffton, S.C., and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Henry Sipes on July 3, 2017, three sisters, Charlotte Louise Sheppard, Hazel Nellie Hofe, Lavida Christina Zeilor, five brothers, Levi William, Meredith Lorenza, Oliver Raymond, Noel Sheldon and Denver David Whisner.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Pastor Ron Faith and Danny Whisner will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
