Morgan County Schools students, staff and visitors will be required to wear face masks during the week of September 6 since Morgan County community COVID-19 transmission levels are at a high level.
This is in effect for the third week that students have been in class, and the fourth week that the Health Department mask order has been in place.
The weekly total of new COVID-19 cases for the week of August 27 to September 2 was 52 new cases, according to the Morgan County Health Department’s Friday morning Facebook post.
On Friday, September 3, Morgan County had 101 active cases of COVID-19 and 26 deaths have been attributed here to the virus.
Due to the surge in the Delta variant of COVID-19, students, staff and visitors will wear face masks on buses, in school buildings and in areas where social distancing is limited when new community COVID-19 cases are at a substantial to high level.
For Morgan County, a low transmission level of new cases is 0-1.99 cases; moderate is 2-9.9 cases; substantial is 10-19.99 cases and high is 20+ cases.
The Morgan-Berkeley County Health Department issued the mask mandate order on August 9.
Members of the Morgan County Board of Education are expected to discuss mask rules during their regular meeting on, Tuesday, September 7.
