Ethel Mae Francis
1933-2021
Ethel Mae Francis, age 88, passed away on September 22, 2021, at Valley Health War Memorial Hospital, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born September 22, 1933, in Phelps, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Ralph L. Miller and Lola M. (Hurley) Miller Cordukes; and the widow of Russell Francis, who passed away on April 12, 2012.
Ethel and Russell were married on September 25, 1951, in Hancock, Md.
She attended schools in Majestic, Ky. She was a Christian; and had been employed by Jacob Brothers Sewing Factory.
She loved her family, bingo, WWE Wrestling and her cat, Bo. S
he was a member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26 Ladies Auxiliary.
Ethel is survived by a daughter, Janice Nelson and her husband, Herman, of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; two sons, William J. Francis and his wife, Tina, of Needmore, Pa., and Donald L. Francis and his wife, Linda, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Francis, of Hancock, Md.; four sisters, Phyllis Horn, of Oakland, Va., Lois Killian, of Westland, Mich., Stella Scott, and Elizabeth McCoy, both of Phelps, Ky.; two brothers, Woodrow Miller, of Phelps, Ky., and Ronald Thacker, of Detroit, Mich.; six grandchildren, Jeanna Stotler, of Keyser, W.Va., Jerry Stotler, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Brooke Francis, of Hagerstown, Md., John Francis, and Riley Francis, both of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Timothy Farmer, of Hagerstown, Md.; six great-grandchildren, William Diehl, Tiffany Diehl, Aubrey Cooper, Kennedy Cooper, Cole Francis, and Jack Francis; four great-great-grandchildren, Lacy Diehl, Emily Diehl, Skylar Diehl, and Jayden Whetzel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Russell Junior Francis; a grandson, Cally J. Stotler; three brothers, Charles Miller, Glenn Miller, and James Miller; and one sister, Mary Moore.
The family received friends on Monday, September 27, 2021, from 10 a.m. until noon, followed by funeral services beginning at 12:00 noon, at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. Burial followed in the Parkhead Cemetery. Rev. Terry Martin-Minnich officiated.
