Edward Eugene Ridgeway
1930-2022
Edward Eugene “Alf” Ridgeway, age 92, of Great Cacapon, W.Va., died on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Care Facility in Kearneysville, W.Va.
Born on January 4, 1930 in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Charles Lee and Katherine Mae Hoffman Ridgeway.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Alf attended schools in Morgan County.
He was a PFC veteran of the Korean War Conflict with the United States Marine Corps, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal & Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged on October 7, 1953. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps, he worked as an operator with the railroad.
Alf enjoyed fishing, hunting, doing photography and loved playing the guitar.
Alf is survived by his children, Eddy Gene Ridgeway and his wife, Glenda, of Paw Paw, W.Va., Connie Rae Willey and her husband, Joe, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Kevin Joe Ridgeway and his wife, Wendy, of Hagerstown, Md.; one sister, Joann Herrell, of Charles Town, W.Va.; one brother Ronald Ridgeway, of Great Cacapon; nine grandchildren, L.G. Ridgeway, of Paw Paw, Justin Ridgeway, of Olney, Md., Kacey Honycutt, of Boonsboro, Md., Tyler Ridgeway, of Gainesboro, Va., Heather Hoover, Shonda Clark and Gretchen Shives, all of Berkeley Springs, Brittany Harding, of Hagerstown, Md., Brandon Sisler, of Chambersburg, Pa.; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Brian Keith Ridgeway; an infant sister and three brothers, Arthur, Lewis and Richard Ridgeway.
Private graveside services and military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Great Cacapon Cemetery.
