Charles Floyd “Charlie” Whisner
1944-2021
Charles Floyd “Charlie” Whisner, age 77, of Great Cacapon, W.Va., died on Monday, August 2, 2021 at his home.
Born March 29, 1944 at home in Great Cacapon, he was the son of the late Charles Singer and Muriel Treva Offord Whisner.
He attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Charlie was a 1962 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and went to elementary school in Great Cacapon.
He retired as a custodian with U.S. Silica and was also a roofer.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and was a member of the Mountaineer Bass Club.
Charlie is survived by his children, Dena Marie Kerns and her husband David and Jane Elizabeth “Betsy” Whisner; two grandchildren, Sarah Catherine Andrzejevski and Rhett Easton Beddow; one great grandson, Lucca Andrzejevski, all of Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Lou Whisner, on February 9, 2001; two sisters, Deloris Kidwell and Irma Kidwell and two brothers, Robert Whisner and Earl Whisner.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, at Great Cacapon Cemetery, 440 Spring Street, Great Cacapon, W.Va., with Pastor Chuck Bergen officiating. Family and friends please assemble at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday.
