Carol Sue Light
1949-2022
Carol Sue Light, age 72, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at WVUH East Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born July 23, 1949 at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va, she was the daughter of the late William Douglas and Clara Louise Rockwell Courtney.
She was a Methodist. She was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. Carol had worked, for many years, at the A&P/Superfresh Market in Hancock, Md. She later worked at the Food Lion in Berkeley Springs and at Weaver’s Restaurant in Hancock. She loved flower gardening, shopping, bingo and spending time with her family.
Carol is survived by her husband, Kirk Irvin Light, at home, her children, Mechelle Denise McCusker and her husband Victor of Hancock, Dr. Krista Lynn Hopkins and her husband Brad of Martinsburg, David Bruce Light and his wife Shannon of Berkeley Springs, Daniel Smithson Unger, Jr. and Kyle Douglas Unger, nine grandchildren, Shonda Mechelle Lemaster and her husband Chad, of Hedgesville, Aaron Christian Kirtley and his wife Sarah of Berkeley Springs, Abigail Elizabeth Hopkins and Jack Alexander Hopkins, both of Martinsburg, Jaden, Colby, Kinsey, Tyson and Layna Light, all of Berkeley Springs and her special great-granddaughter, McKenna Grace Lemaster of Hedgesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Douglas Courtney and her dearly beloved dog “Mena.”
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Dick Voorhaar officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Orleans Church Cemetery in Great Cacapon, W.Va.
The family received friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
