The Town of Bath will celebrate Arbor Day on Wednesday, April 13, at 4 p.m. with a tree planting in Berkeley Springs State Park.
Town of Bath tree board member, Kate Lehman said an ornamental cherry tree will be planted on the park’s northwest side, close to the museum. It will replace an old maple tree that died.
April 13, 2022 was proclaimed as Arbor Day in Bath at the April 5 Town Council meeting. The proclamation was read by Town Recorder, Susan Webster in Mayor Scott Merki’s absence, and in part, said:
“…I urge all citizens to celebrate Arbor Day and to support efforts to protect our trees and woodlands, and … I urge all citizens to plant and care for trees to gladden the heart and promote the well being of this and future generations.”.
The town has been a Tree City U.S.A. member for 15 years, and celebrated Arbor Day each year, Lehman said.
