Wilma J. Corbett

Wilma J. Corbett

1940-2019

W. “Jeanie” Corbett, age 79, of Hancock, Md., went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, June 2, 2019, surrounded by her beloved family.

Her devotion to her family and her faith in God has left a lasting legacy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born May 30, 1940, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Russell James and Edna (Hixon) Divel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her granddaughter, Sarah Jean Corbett.

She was a member of Catalpa United Methodist Church, in Hancock, and Warm Springs Baptist Church, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

She graduated from Hancock High School in 1958, where she was swept off of her feet by the love of her life, Donnie Corbett.

She graduated top of her class from the West Virginia Beauty Culture School in 1959.

Mom and Dad were married for 60 years. Their love for each other was priceless. Their commitment to each other through the ups and downs of life created a secure foundation for the generations to come. Our Mom was an extraordinary lady. Her faith was genuine, and her love was real. She always made time to support her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids in whatever activity they were involved in. Throughout her life time, she touched many people with her hugs, cards, visits, and baked goods. She read her Bible every day, but more importantly, she lived it. The void she leaves behind is painful, but the legacy she has passed down will be with us forever.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Donnie; her children, Steve Corbett and his wife, Lisa, of LaVale, Md., Mike Corbett and his wife, Cassie, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Frank Corbett, of Hancock, Md., Kathy McCray and her husband, Kirk, of Needmore, Pa.; seventeen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her sister, JoAnn Santor, of Hancock; and her brother, Leroy Divel and his wife, Ruthie, of Clear Spring, Md.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019, at 11 a.m., at the Warm Springs Baptist Church, 3683 Pious Ridge Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Rev. Dr. Steve Corbett, Rev. Robert Burton, and Rev. Joshua Rider will officiate. Burial will follow in the Catalpa United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Hancock.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, on Thursday, June 6, 2019, and at Warm Springs Baptist Church, one hour prior to the service on Friday.

For their excellent care, in lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave, Hagerstown, Md., 21742; or to Breast Cancer Awareness – Cumberland Valley, Inc., 12916 Conamar Drive, Suite 201, Hagerstown, Md., 21742.
