William Edgar “Bill” Willison

1960-2021

William Edgar “Bill” Willison, age 60, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Doeys House, in Hagerstown, Md.

Born February 1, 1960, in Frostburg, Md., he was the son of Beatrice Ida (Graver) Willison, of Eckhart, Md., and the late Robert Edgar Willison; and the husband of Carol Ann (Cunningham) Willison, whom he married July 5, 1980.

He was a graduate of Beall High School, in Frostburg, Md., with the class of 1978.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Jason A. Willison and his wife, Catherine, of Flintstone, Md., and Jeffrey L. Willison and his wife, Erika, of Rockaway, N.J.; a daughter, Jennifer L. Baier and her husband, Ryan, of Frederick, Md.; three grandsons, Nicholas A. Willison, Samuel G. Willison, and Owen R. Baier; three granddaughters, Caitlyn M. Willison, Elliott J. Baier and Lilly A. Baier; three brothers, Robert T. Willison and his wife, Paula, of Frostburg, Md., Joseph A. Willison, of Frostburg, and Donald L. Willison and his wife, Carole, of Eckhart, Md.; a sister, Edith L. Railey and her husband, Joseph, of Eckhart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Helen Willison.

Bill was an honest and hardworking family man, who was largely admired for his commitment to his family and friends.

He was recognized for his years of service as a volunteer firefighter at the Hancock Volunteer Fire Company, as well as his contributions to his community.

Bill owned and operated Willison Electric for nearly 30 years as a local businessman and master electrician.

However, his lasting legacy will be the devotion he had for his wife and family.

In his free time, Bill enjoyed traveling the east coast in his camper…whether for a NASCAR event in New Hampshire, or a family trip to Disney World. He adored spending time with his children and grandchildren; teaching them how to fish or simply to enjoy a day on the boat. He never passed up a moment to visit with family and show his love, even if there was only enough time for a quick hug.

Bill was a generous and humble man who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Funeral services will be held at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., at noon, on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. and Chaplain Dwayne Musgrove will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park, 13800 Bedford Road, in Cumberland, Md. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the services.

Online condolences will be accepted at www.grovefh.com.
