1942-2020

Wilbert P. (Willy) Galliher, 78, of Paw Paw, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Born November 11, 1942, he was the son of the late Pinkney and Agnes (Twigg) Galliher and grew up in Green Ridge Station, Md.

He graduated from Oldtown High School, Oldtown, Md., in 1960.

On March 30, 1968, he married Janet Betson Galliher, who preceded him in death on July 13, 2005.

He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. In 1968, he was sent to Vietnam and was honored as a sharpshooter. Sadly, from that deployment, he contracted many health issues due to Agent Orange.

Wilbert worked at several companies, including Schmidt’s Bakery in Cumberland, and he later retired from Medaesco in Winchester, Va.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Galliher, who was a great caring helpmate; two sons, Jason Galliher of Paw Paw, W.Va., and Andy Galliher (and wife, Kim) of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; one brother , Vernon Galliher (and wife, Rita), Old Town, Md.; three sisters. Millie Johnson, Helen Golden and Shirley Zeger, all of Clear Spring, Md.; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Halle Galliher; two stepchildren, Thomas Lambert, Jr. and Laura Dunkin; three step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Crabtree, Sharon and Wesley Roach and several nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arley Galliher, and a sister, Virginia Brown.

The family received friends Friday, November 27, 2020 at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Paw Paw, where a funeral service was held with Pastor Earl Travis officiating. Interment was at Camp Hill Cemetery.
