Wellington Anthony “Dick” Hummel, 87, of Gettysburg, Pa., formerly of Maryland and Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Transitions Healthcare.

Born February 26, 1931 in Loyalville, Pa., he was the son of the late Luther T. and Josepha Labinski Hummel.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later retired from 27 years of service in the Baltimore City Fire Department.

He liked to play poker, paint, the Orioles and the Ravens.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Betty L. Pressley Hummel; four children, Lorrie Little, Gettysburg, Patricia Dutterer, Hanover, Pa., Daniel Hummel, Berkeley Springs and Paul Hummel, Fairfield, Pa.; one brother, Luther Hummel of Ohio; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Hummel and five sisters.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
