Wayne S. Miller

1949-2018

Wayne Steven Miller, age 68, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., formerly of Arnold, Md., died on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.

Born October 4, 1949 in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Albert Joseph III and Agnes Elizabeth Appel Miller.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs. Wayne was a graduate of Andover High School in Linthicum, Md. He served with the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War from June 30, 1969 until his honorable discharge at the rank of Machinery Repairman 3rd Class on December 1, 1970. He retired as the Director of Facilities Management with the U. S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Wayne was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 in Berkeley Springs. He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR and Sprint car racing and classic cars, especially the restoration of his 1966 Mustang.

Surviving are his wife of 47 ½ years, Linda Ruth Chilcoat Miller, at home; his children, Dale Steven Miller and his wife Alisha of Montrose, W.Va., Shawn Paul Miller and his wife Kristin of Stevensville, Md., Angela Marie MacGlashan and her husband Marcus of Gallatin, Tenn., and Melanie Lynn Hughes and her husband Joseph, Jr. of Chambersburg, Pa.; three sisters, Linda Wells and Wendy Ferreira of Lansdowne, Md., and Nancy Tracey of Glen Burnie, Md.; one brother, Ronald Miller of Glen Burnie, Md.; six grandchildren, Cody Dale Miller of Montrose, W.Va., Alyssa Marie MacGlashan of Gallatin, Tenn., Caden Mason Miller and Dylan Parker Miller, both of Stevensville, Md., Avery Lynn Jones and Kaden Joseph Hughes, both of Chambersburg, Pa. and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Miller.

The family received friends from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where there was a prayer service at 5 p.m. A reception followed at the First United Methodist Church Social Hall.

Funeral services were conducted at noon on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home, 421 Crain Highway SE, Glen Burnie, Md., with Pastor Doug Hoffman officiating. Interment with military honors was in Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, Md.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. on Monday at Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home.
