Vernon E. Belford

1931-2018

Vernon Eugene Belford, 86, of Paw Paw, died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Moran Manor in Westernport, Md., where he had resided for several years.

He was born July 7, 1931 in Bethel, he was the son of the late John Emory Belford and Edith Loretta Ginevan Belford.

He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Whitmyer Brothers, Inc. in Charlottesville, Va., Lewhite Construction in Richmond, Va., Colter & Chapell Electric Company in Winston-Salem, N.C.; Smith Excavating & Utility Company in Berkeley Springs and for Belford Construction Company in Paw Paw.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara C. Belford on December 20, 2011; one infant son, David Belford and two brothers, Dennis Belford and Lyle Belford.

He is survived by one daughter, Deanna McGlade, Old Town, Md.; one sister, Erma Arnica, Paw Paw, two brothers, Donald Belford and Larry Belford, both of Paw Paw; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be held today, Wednesday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at Kimble Funeral Home, Paw Paw with Pastor Robert Combs officiating.

Interment will be at Ginevan Cemetery near Paw Paw with military graveside services conducted by members of the American Legion Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
