Tribe picks up win over Clear Spring, 55-42

The Berkeley Springs High School Indians Varsity Basketball Team picked up another impressive win last Monday, January 21. The Indians defeated the visiting Clear Spring Blazers 55-42 in the friendly confines of the Berkeley Springs gym.
The Blazers took an 11-6 first quarter lead. In the second quarter the Tribe got rolling and outscored Clear Spring 16-6 to take a 22-17 halftime lead.
The Indians came out of the locker room ready to go in the third quarter. The Tribe outscored the Blazers 15-7 to push their lead to 37-24. In the final quarter the Indians and Blazers amped up the scoring as both teams scored 18 points each. However it was Berkeley Springs who secured the 55-42 win.
Leading the way for the Tribe was freshman Gavin Barkley who finished with a game high 17 points. EJ Barkley (10 points), Ty’Jae Armstrong (nine points), Payton Mann (nine points), Nate Bland (five points), Cameron King (three points) and Larry Miller (two points) rounded out the scoring.
Berkeley Springs had a home contest with Frankfort on Tuesday, January 29. Then on Friday, February 1 the Indians will travel to Keyser. The freshman game will tip-off at 4:30 p.m., junior varsity at 6 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m.
