Susan May “Sue” Gurson, age 70, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Monday, November 19, 2018 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born September 18, 1948 in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Helen Schaffer Harbert.

She was a member of Trinity-Asbury United Methodist Church.

Susan graduated from Hyndman High School in Hyndman, Pa. Sue earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, Pa.

She was a teacher at Hancock Junior and Senior High School for 30 years.

She was a member of the Berkeley Springs Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 77, Daughters of the Nile in Cumberland, Md., Morgan County War Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Alderton-Dawson American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 60, Knit Witts, Morgan County Retired School Employees Association and Retired Teachers of Washington County.

She enjoyed knitting and watching the Washington Nationals baseball games.

Sue is survived by her husband of 45 years Marshall Carl “Ike” Gurson, at home; one son, Michael Dennis Gurson and his wife Faith of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one sister, Beverly Brand of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother, Ray Harbert of Hagerstown, Md.; three grandchildren, Michael Corbin Gurson, Holden Gregory Gurson, Hope Eveline Gurson all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and several nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be private.
