Stella A. Hickerson
1918-2019
Stella Ann (Myers) Hickerson, age 101, of Hedgesville, W.Va. and formerly of Florida, died while under Hospice care at her home, on Monday, September 2, 2019.
Born January 26, 1918, in Caruthersville, Missouri, she was the daughter of the deceased Hal and Eleanor Myers.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, in Hancock, Md.
For more than 30 years she worked as a clerk typist for the National Security Agency, in Ft. Meade, Md.
She enjoyed going to dances with her friends.
Stella is survived by her son, Richard A. Hickerson and his wife, Betty, of Hedgesville, W.Va.; and her daughter, Jane Sadler and her husband, Bob, of Little River, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m., on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Md.
A Prayer Service was held at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., Friday, September 6, 2019, at the St. Peter Catholic Church, 16 E. High St., Hancock, Md., with Fr. John J. Lombardi officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stella may be made to the St. Peter Catholic Church, at the above address.
