Spring shines on annual Hancock egg hunt

There was a heavy turnout for Saturday’s Annual Community Easter egg hunt, as children and families gathered at Widmeyer Park to gather eggs and prizes in celebration of Easter.

The event, sponsored each year by the Hancock Lions Club and Hancock United Methodist Church, had been set for March 24 but weather pushed it to March 31. Skies were sunny and temperatures were in the 60s as kids divided up into age groups to race for thousands of plastic eggs set out by volunteers throughout the park.

After each age group’s egg hunt, registered participants had a chance to win prize baskets donated by local businesses. A grand prize of a donated bicycle went to 2-year-old Ryder Montgomery of Hancock.
