Samuel D. Swaim

1941-2018

Samuel Dennis Swaim, 76, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.

Born July 7, 1941 in Morgan County, he was the son of the late Roscoe R. Swaim and Mary E. (Hovermill) Swaim.

He was a member of the Berkeley Springs Church of Christ. He retired from Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, Md.

He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, watching westerns and NASCAR, hunting and fishing, and spending time outdoors.

He was an avid gardener, known locally for his tomatoes, strawberries and raspberries.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Thelma Ann (Bushman) Swaim, Berkeley Springs; his daughter, Kelly D. Loughry, her husband Allen H. Loughry II and grandson, Justus K. Loughry, all of Charleston, W.Va.; two brothers, Tommy Swaim, Berkeley Springs and Jack Swaim, Weirton; three sisters, Linda Buzzerd, Martinsburg; Mary Jo Knight, Stuart, Va., and Anne Johnson, Naperville, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

To honor his wishes, a private graveside interment will be held at a later date at Duckwall Church of Christ Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.

In memory of his border collie, Bandit, memorial contributions may be made to the Morgan County Humane Society.
