Roland Elwood Shambaugh, Sr.

1934-2021

Roland Elwood Shambaugh, Sr. age 86, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. died on July 31, 2021 at Berkeley Medical Center.

Born November 22, 1934 in Magnolia, W.Va. he was the son of the late Vernon William and Lillian Frances Parker Shambaugh.

Roland was a member of Berkeley Springs Church of Christ.

He attended public schools in Morgan County.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959.

He worked for Berkeley Springs Water as a truck driver.

He was a member of the Junior Order United American Mechanics #117 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

He is survived by his longtime companion Lynda Neff of Berkeley Springs, two sons, Roland Shambaugh, Jr. of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Vincent Edward Shambaugh of Great Cacapon, W.Va., three sisters, Betty Jean Ruppenthal, Marilyn Beaver and Erma Dawson all of Berkeley Springs, four grandchildren, Colton Shambaugh, Rachel Corsale, Kyle Shambaugh and Kortni McCusker, three great-grandchildren, Levi Shambaugh, Penelope Corsale and Jensen McCusker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Fear Clopper, Anna Lynch and Elizabeth Fischer and one brother, Vincent Eugene Shambaugh.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Berkeley Springs Church of Christ, 290 S. Green Street, Berkeley Springs, with the memorial service to begin at 7 p.m. with Joshua Hetrick officiating. Burial will be private in Great Cacapon Cemetery.
