Robert S. Little
1926-2018
Robert Samuel Little, 92 of Berkeley Springs, WV died on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Veterans Medical Center Hospital in Martinsburg, WV after a brief illness.
Robert was born on March 16, 1926 in the Bronx, NY, the only child of the late Dolores Teresa Fonseca Little and William Frank Little.
He lived in Cuba for 16 years and was fluent in Spanish. Robert also lived in New York and New Jersey prior to relocating to Berkeley Springs, WV.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, and served in WWII in Puerto Rico as a wrecker operator and then an MP from 1945-46.
Robert worked for the Jersey Central Railroad in Elizabeth, NJ, Ameron/Pipe Linings in Kenilworth, NJ and Studer/McEldowney in Clinton, NJ.
He was a founding member of the River Road Rescue Squad in Piscataway, NJ.
He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Posts first in Piscataway, NJ, and then in Berkeley Springs, WV.
He attended the Alpine United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs, WV.
He enjoyed tinkering with different projects including building a house, hunting, telling stories about his life, watching the N.Y. Yankees and the stock market, and his dog Julio.
Robert is survived by a son Robert R. Little (Sandra) of Greeley, CO, and three daughters Frances L. Davison (Kevin) of Gainesville, VA, Dolores T. Little (Jeff Flyer) of Madison, NJ and Patricia S. Little (Edward McGlynn) of Denville, NJ; 10 grandchildren Christopher Bailey of Greeley, CO, Jennifer Gumsey (Mike) of Greeley, CO, Jordan Burgett (Tyler) of Denver, CO, Keith Flyer of Tempe, AZ, Kyle Flyer of Hoboken, NJ, Kevin Davison of Palm Desert, CA, Megan McGlynn of Tempe, AZ, Kathleen McGlynn of Denville, NJ, Sarah Davison of Gainesville, VA and Edward McGlynn of Denville, NJ and five great-grandchildren, Genesis Hembree, Gerad Hembree and Garret Hembree all of Greeley, CO, Liam Stanger of Gainesville, VA and Elizabeth Burgett of Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rachel of 48 1/2 years in 1998.
Robert donated his body to the University of West Virginia.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Alpine United Methodist Church located at 5181 Pious Ridge Road in Berkeley Springs, WV.
