1947-2021
Robert Lee Richards, Sr., age 73, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at his home.
Born May 4, 1947, in Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late Lee M. and Lena (Crouse) Richards; and husband of the late Joyce Eva (Roberts) Richards, whom he married January 5, 1966, in Big Pool, Md., and who died June 26, 2012.
He had attended New Hope Church, in Woodstock, Va.
He was previously employed by the Hancock Block Co., and for more than twenty years he was a minister and an adult Sunday School teacher.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons, Timothy E. Bailey and his wife, Lisa, of Hancock, Md., Robert L. Richards, Jr., of Hancock, and Michael F. Richards and his fiancé, Christy, of Warfordsburg; two daughters, Debbie J. Bolling and her husband, Donald, of Taylor, Mich., and Lori A. Shipp and her husband, Bill, of Woodstock, Va.; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three sisters, Nancy Lewis, of Needmore, Pa., Brenda Waugh, of Needmore, Pa., and Alice VanGosen, of Needmore; and two brothers, David Richards, of Needmore, and John Richards, of Texas.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Velma M. Bailey; two granddaughters, Candis R. Bailey, and Chasta M. Bowman; two grandsons, Travis E. Bolling, and Michael P. Hull; and a sister, Sandra Leedy.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at 1 p.m., in the Antioch Christian Church cemetery, 7902 Timber Ridge Road, Big Cove Tannery, Pa. Pastor Bill Cummings officiated.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Grane Hospice, 115 Union Ave., Altoona, PA. 16602.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock, Md.
