Richard E. Stotler

1948-2018
Richard Ellsworth “Rick” Stotler, 69, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, March 2, 2018 at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, Va.
Born July 21, 1948 in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late Rumsey Howard and Elsie Belle Werdebaugh Stotler.
He was a member of The Independent Church of God in Hedgesville.
He was a 1968 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 4th Class.
He retired as a track foreman with CSX railroad.
He liked fishing, hunting, camping, grilling, sports, music and attending auctions.
Surviving are his wife of 46 1/2 years, Shirley Ann Keefer Stotler, at home; his children, Sandy Kidwell, Great Cacapon and Richard “Ricky” Stotler, Jr., Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Shirley Silvers, Hedgesville and Diane    Hoopengardner, Hancock; three brothers, Donald Stotler and Douglas Stotler, both of Berkeley Springs and Timothy Stotler, Williamsport, Md.; three grandchildren, Bradley Kidwell and Brandi Creek, both of Great Cacapon and Andrew Stotler, Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene Schetrompf and June Nalley and an infant brother.
Funeral services with military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 8 at The Independent Church of God, 8703 Martinsburg Road, Hedgesville. Pastors Lynnie and Ada Ambrose will officiate. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at the church on Thursday.
Arrangements are being handled by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs.
